UPDATE: This is what happens when a culture or society does not value the individual. What is that little girl to the collectivists, just a mouth to feed and worse yet a little girl. This is just a symptom of a much greater problem in places like China where everyone is in effect a slave to the "people." Individualism is viewed as a sin. Only the inherent human nature of compassion goes against the grain (thank God). The woman who tried to save her is a hero and those who ignored her should be...have bad things done to them.
