Who can win the Presidency Part 2: How to Guarantee a GOP Victory
In my previous post on “Who can win the presidency” I detailed how on many occasions the “unelectable” candidate wins. I will not rehash those reasons now, rather I am going to give a very simple plan that will guarantee a GOP victory.
For the GOP to win the presidency they need only follow these steps:
Step 1:
Play tough but fair in the Republican primary. Hash out the trunk issues that will dominate the general election. The candidates must not forget that the aim is not to destroy the other GOP candidates rather to pitch your case why they should get the honor of squaring off against the Democrats nominee.
Step 2:
Rally behind the GOP nominee in the general election. Goldwater suffered when the GOP establishment and former president Eisenhower abandoned him or only provided tacit support. If the nominee is an establishment candidate then Tea Party members MUST support that candidate in the general election and vice versa.
For example Scott Brown and Rudy Giuliani should be vocal and prodigious stump speakers in New England, for Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin if either were the nominee. Conversely, Herman Cain and Mark Levin should speak actively in favor of John Huntsman or Mitt Romney or Donald Trump.
No one in the current candidate pool would be worse than another Obama presidency (NEVER FORGET THAT). Many of Johnson’s supporters in 1964 used the slogan “Even Johnson is better than Goldwater.”
This means being just as active as they would be if their preferred candidate is not chosen. Remember, this is first and foremost about getting rid of Obama.
Step 3:
Do not be afraid to take it to President Obama. Challenge him on his record and call him on his lies. John McCain never missed an opportunity to take a legitimate issue off the table. He acted like he was afraid of Obama. He even reigned in Sarah Palin when she was actually helping him.
He has a record now, a bad record that can be shoved down his throat. Obama can not win a fair debate for two reasons, 1) He does not have a strong grasp of economics or foreign affairs not to mention other issues. He got by on demagoguing and populist progressive platitudes in 2008. 2) He can not control his emotions when challenged head on. Cases in point, he got very angry at Hillary Clinton in several debates (especially the South Carolina debate) and Paul Ryan nearly made his head explode during the healthcare summit.
You might recall that the Healthcare summit was a complete setup designed to embarrass the GOP and to gain popular support for Obamacare (side note, NEVER STOP CALLING IT OBAMACARE no matter how much the other side complains) but what ended up happening was that Ryan and the other Republicans embarrassed the Democrats and Obamacare never became popular.
In summary, three steps can guarantee a GOP victory in 2012. 1) Play fair and tough in primary, 2) Rally behind whichever candidate wins the nominee 3) Take it to Obama because he is week when challenged.
Additional thoughts, the old guard media and liberal establishment are going to be hateful, unfair, and dishonest. Just deal with it, those screaming loudest would never vote Republican anyway. Do what Reagan did and make your case to John Q Public not Chris Matthews. Second, conservative issues well articulated will always win; squishy RINO-ism almost always loses in Presidential elections. So, never back down or apologize for conservative beliefs.
Remember Democrats/liberals do not have a voice in who we (the Republicans) choose as nominee, so do not listen to them. I remember the Obama campaign and its supports saying “Did McCain even vet Palin…” Put simply, who he chose and how he chose her is none of the liberal establishment’s business. Once again they would not have voted for McCain regardless of who he chose.
