Press Release from IAEA(pdf)
http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/2013/mexicoradsource.html
Mexico has informed the IAEA's Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) of the theft of a truck carrying a dangerous radioactive source used in medical treatment.
Mexico's "ComisiĆ³n Nacional de Seguridad Nuclear y Salvaguardias (CNSNS)" said the truck, which was transporting the cobalt-60 teletherapy source from a hospital in the northern city of Tijuana to a radioactive waste storage centre, was stolen in Tepojaco near Mexico City at around 08:00 UTC on 2 December 2013.
At the time the truck was stolen, the source was properly shielded. However, the source could be extremely dangerous to a person if removed from the shielding, or if it was damaged.
The Mexican authorities are currently conducting a search for the source and have issued a press release to alert the public.
The IAEA has made an offer of good offices to Mexico, a process that makes the IAEA available to provide assistance if requested by a Member State, and the IEC remains in contact with the CNSNS.

USA Today Re-Names Veteran's Day as "Obama's Day"
USA Today seems to think today is all about President Obama, a man who never served a split second in the US Military. The article itself is not bad at all, but the title is offensive in that it elevates a politician over those who have earned the right to be honored today. Shame on you USA Today.

Wow 735,000 LESS People Employed!
The latest job numbers are out and only a gymnast could find a way to spin them as good. According to the "Establishment Data" the total number of jobs increased by 204,000. And that along with the modest uptick of 0.1% increase in the unemployment rate (7.3% from 7.2%) are the only number most people will read in the headlines. However, what the headlines won't tell you is that 735,000 less people are employed and with an additional 213,000 people being added to the Civilian non-institutional population, there are an additional 932,000 people not in the labor force. See charts below.

Record winter ice cover in Antarctica
The Australian reports that there is record winter ice coverage in Antarctica.
Of course they also scramble to suggest this in no way is evidence against Global Warming... OK if they say so. So, how come every time the facts on the ground don't point to Global Warming they dismiss them as natural or something something, but when it can be used to bolster the case (no matter how trivial the event or data) it is give as absolute proof? They need to learn what the term falsifiable means.
"...WINTER sea ice cover in the Antarctic has grown to its largest extent since satellite records began in the late 1970s, defying most climate models and muddying the waters of the global warming debate.
The latest data from NASA's satellites shows the winter sea ice cover around the frozen continent reached a record 19.47 million sq km last month. That beats last winter's 19.44 million sq km -- itself a record.
According to NASA, it is 3.6 per cent higher than the average maximum between 1981 and 2010, with the sea ice cover in Antarctica growing at 1.5 per cent a decade.
The data runs contrary to the projections of many climate-change models. It also contrasts with observations of this year's Arctic summer minimum sea ice extent, which America's National Snow and Ice Data Centre says was about 30 per cent below levels seen in the early 1980s.
Scientists appear unable to definitively explain the phenomenon, but believe increasingly strong winds in Antarctica and an increase in rain and snow on the Southern Ocean are the most likely factors.
They need to learn what the term falsifiable means.
...A growing body of research suggests the main reason for the increase in Antarctic sea ice is an increase in the force of polar winds. It shoves the sea ice together, causing ridging and creating thicker, longer lasting ice and promoting sea ice growth.- See more at: The Australian
